Stingray with exchangeable fretboard

So this well known bass player (local) was over the other night and loved my stingrays. Especially the 30th. He was telling me about one he owned long ago that had an exchangeable fretboard. Now this is something I've never heard of, or seen, before.

Anyone? Pics??

I'd like to swap in a fretboard that corrected my bad notes!

The novatone fretboard from the 80s? The fretboard was like a giant kitchen magnet. A metal plate was installed on the neck. I bought a used bass with one of these on it for parts. By the time I got hold of the bass the magnet was starting to fail. The fretboard would gradually slide off mid song.
