Whats up guys? I was just wondering what the difference was, as far as sound is concerned, between normal pickups and the piezos. I've played a few StingRay5's with the normal, but what does the piezo do to the sound? Thanks.

One of the guys ("Bassmaniac" or "Masamax" ???) did a thingy on this, not so long ago, with download audio. Can't locate it at the moment...the topic is probably within a thread on another topic.

Basically it severely cuts the mids and highs on an instrument. It's main focus is to provide a much more accoustic sound, which it does very well! Works well on fretless and fretted. I find it's esspecially helpful in taking out some of the bite on the bass. I can't remember what thread it was, or even if I still have those sound files hosted! I don't really feel like recording more, but basically what I said stands.

I guess the simplest explaination is that it makes strings sound dead, even if they are very bright. I have never tried it on flats, but I am sure it makes them sound even more muffled. It works extremely well on accoustic gigs, and IMO gives the ray MUCH more versatility, fretted or not.
