I've got a 2006 EBMM SR4 single humbucker that I bought recently ... it's black body and pickguard with a maple fretboard. The pickguard screws on it are black, but I noticed that the newer SR4's in this color combination have nickel pickguard screws.

Does anyone know if they were using black screws in this timeperiod? Just trying to return it to original spec's (if it's not already there).

Thanks!

I'm not 100% sure don't think that EB have ever used black screws on pick-guards ever, so fresh from the factory they would of all been chrome (apart from stealth models).
I liked the look of the 20ith Anniversary models ware the tort guard is glued on so there are not any screws at all so found some after market black screws an fitted them to the pick-guard my self so with your bass its likely that the previous owner has done the same.

I might be wrong if so others will clarify for you but I'm 99% sure that they will be after market.

I'm not sure how consistent these are, but my SR5 (2003 model) came new with a black pg, with black screws, and my 2007LE SR4 has black screws on a black pg also as new - so that may be a pointer to the answer to your question.

My 2010 Classic has a white pg with silver screws.

I would hazard a guess that light coloured pg have silver screws and dark ones have black (but to blow the theory - my 93 SR4 has matt white pg and black screws (as new I think).

So what is your Policy on these EBMM, if any  :)

Going back farther, my 1988 SR4 H is black, black PG with black screws. I was told that all on the bass was original. But until I pulled the neck a couple of days ago it was supposed to be born 1995. Just say'n........

You are most definitely wrong. :D

My Bongos both came with black screws for the pickguards. I don't remember what the Big Al came with.

FWIW, I've switched them all out to chrome screws.
