I've had three Silo's, two of 'em I still got.
The first two (both HSS) have unmarked single coils pickups, mostly referred to as Dimarzio Blue Velvet's. But the third Silo (HSH) had a marked single coil, the bottom plate says "DP110EB". A Dimarzio DP110 is a Dimarzio FS-1 (EB stands for Ernie Ball, of course). But the DP110EB doesn't sound the same as a "real" Dimarzio DP110, it sounds almost the same as the other SC's (Blue Velvet??).
Does anyone know about this?

These middle pickups are supposed to be "custom wound" for Ernie Ball Music Man, so I would hazzard a guess that when they first developed the pickup with Dimarzio they started with a DP110, and then tweaked it to meet their needs in the Silhouette - perhaps changing windings, wire guage, magnet type, who knows - and that's why the EB version sounds different than the stock DP110... Just speculation, of course...
