Sup? I have 2 of my balls, loose in soft cases...err that didn't sound right...anyway what is the best way to store guitars. Should I get hardshells(I would like to get MM's case but dang they're hard to come by in Canada) or a nice 5 unit rack to show off my collection

also I asked earlier about maple necks (with or without a maple fretboard), are these considered unfinished, thus qualifying for the whole treatment thingy...thanks!

I think that as long as you have enough hardcases to transport your guitars when you leave the house, you should be okay... I've got original EBMM hardcases for all but two of my Musicman guitars - the two that are in gigbags get rotated; whatever hasn't left the house in a while is likely to wind up in a gigbag. Anything I'm carrying out the door is in a hardcase, period!

I also keep three guitars out at any given time hanging on the walls, so I could theoretically get away with even fewer cases than I have (no, none of mine are for sale)... The point is, you don't have to store your guitars in a hardcase in your home so long as you make sure they're secure whereever you hang/store them...

As to the necks, they're treated with gunstock oil and wax, and far more susceptable to climate change than finished necks. Because my wife plays the harp, we keep the house well humidified in the winter, but changes are inevitable regardless, and I tweak the trussrod in spring and autumn to compensate...

Check with your dealer, he could possibly have one laying around that he could sell you, if not, i don't know. Maybe you could come across the border to somewhere in NY if it's not too far

OK so then I'm OK with a rack, or a gig bag...in which postion should I keep them when they're in the gibag?

If I did that I would leave with a handful of EBMM's...you know the saying, stay out of the hen house...or something like that!

I have one of those "Rockstar" guitar stands that holds 7 guitars. Since I have each guitar at a different tuning, I leave 'em out because I play all of them each day. Plus, I am lazy when it comes to opening and closing a case each time I want to change out a guitar. I have never had any problems (maybe a slight adjustment here or there), and see no reason why you couldn't have them out if you play them. I do have two guitars left in their case.....since the arrival of my JP's, they were "retired"....but, when I leave the house, I use a hardshell case. Just me......I have a gigbag for my "travel" guitar (Ibanez RG) and that is all it has been in. Still in excellent shape with no problems. My 2 pennies.

Well,

Guitars we buy from a music store are certainly left out. Who knows how long they hang?

That said, I always put them away at night. Mostly because I live near the ocean and everything rusts after a while. Even I'm a little rusty :p

Just prefer it happen later rather than sooner.
