strap/case troubles

Hello all.
I love Dimarzio strap lock straps and I really want to put one on my Stingray 5 HH.
My problem is, the Music Man case is pretty form fitting and I'm worried about the clips scratching my bass's finish.
I'm conflicted between the straps I love and my sweet Egyptian Smoke finish.

Any advice?

Unless I'm missing something couldn't you just take the strap off before putting the bass in the case, or is there something about Dimarzio straplocks that I don't know about?

I had to Google them, looks like a short part of the strap stays on the instrument with a fanny pack type belt fastener. That type of deal would kill it for me. I'm waiting for the new EBMM locks to hit the stores (Pete's store really ).

Yeah, those fanny pack type clips are rather lame to me too, they'd be gone.
