I wish i'd known the EB strap locks were coming out before i equipped my JP7 with Schallers. Ah, well... the Schallers work great, and i'm used to them.
Just out of curiosity, does anybody know if the EB strap locks are quieter than other solutions out there? I find that Schallers do have a fair amount of mechanical noise (clicks, rattles and squeaks) as you move around with the guitar during performances. It's not a huge issue with a regular electric, but with the piezos, a fair amount of that noise gets transferred to my rig. I might consider switching to EB strap locks if their better in this regard.

FWIW, I've found that Dunlops make zero noise (I've got a piezo-equipped Bongo).
We've only seen drawings that show no detail on the EBMMs, but it looks as if they have a similar operating principle to the Dunlops. If so, they should also be silent.
It's possible (though highly unlikely) for Dunlops to not engage properly, as a few of us have found out the hard way. Hopefully the EBMMs won't have this issue.

I have always been a fan of the Schaller ones myself, plus use can use the original strap button screw that is in your ball already.

Only somewhat minor issues I have with Schallers are that they a) protrude and make the guitar effectively wider b) those clunky and sharp metal strap attachments just beg to be accidentally smacked into the guitar's finish.
I'm looking forward to checking out the new EB strap-locks. Anyone know yet if they protrude very far out?

reason why I switched to Di Marzio cliplock, the schaller are really noisy. But I'm looking foward for the EBMM that might be the ultimate strap lock !

I very lightly swab the inside channel with a q-tip and a little vaseline. Quiets the Schaller squeaks and rattles down considerably, and they clip on and off easier too.

AMEN, Bro. I love the Cliplock. I swear by them. No noise, no protrusion, and I trust them more than the schallers or dunlops.
I'm sure the EB locks solved all the above problems.

The Di Marzio cliplock system seems like a great way to go. Was going to order them awhile ago, but there seems to be a problem in shortening the strap. I'm not a big guy, and I wear a guitar fairly high up. From what I've read, shortening the strap rests the hardware directly on the shoulder.
I tried the Dunlops and they were ok, but they protrude outward pretty far. At the time I was playing G&L guitars, which have a wider body than MM. The compact Silo body has negotiated some of the extended strap effect. But, I'd greatly prefer a locking system which allowed the guitar to hang naturally, rather than feeling like a clothes hanger.

Don't get the planet waves strap with built in lock - rubbish and came undone a few times - luckily no damage was caused !!

I once used a cliplock-type strap on one of my guitars, and i found that the plastic clip at the butt end of the guitar could not be safely kept away from the guitar's body when playing or when in a case, and it rubbed against the finish, causing some damage. I won't use one again for that reason.
I'll try using some synthetic lubricant with PTFE on my Schallers... Vaseline might be a bit goopy, and i don't think i'd want a petroleum distillate to potentially come in contact with my guitar's finish or the wood itself.
The EB locks look like they might be a hybrid of Dunlop and Schaller designs. I'm looking forward to seeing them in person.

The Dimarzio factory will shorten the clip locks for free. If you have your dealer special order one, just tell them to shorten it before they send it. Or, just send it to them with a return envelope and you're good. I turn the dimarzio brand side to the back and that way the plastic adjuster thingy is right in the middle of the back and not on the shoulder. All of mine have been shortened and they are perfect. The cotton cliplock is so dreamy. In the case, I line the clips (when unstrapped) right up the guitar's body and never had a problem with scratching.

I put Dunlops on my Les Paul. As most people probably know already, the screw that comes with them are smaller than the original screw holes in the guitar, so I had to do the toothpick and glue thing (hole remover). The Dunlops do not offer a "second chance" like the Schallers with that "U" shaped cradle design...If for some reason the Dunlop's socket wrench-like mechanism fails, or isn't attached/engaged properly, or you inadvertently press the release button....
Bad news.
The Dunlops do not make any noise though, and if attached properly (and checked with a little tug), and lubricated periodically, they should be fine.
I'm curious about the EB's though, if they are truly the best of both the Dunlop and Schaller worlds, then I'm very interested. Any details of the design available to check out?

We all are, but until someone gets some, installs them and uses them we won't know. From a design stand point, ie the pictures in the flyer. They look well made, but from the EBMM design team, I'd expect nothing less.
