My stingrays strap button keep coming loose on the top horn after every time i play with my strap standing. After playing i have to screw it back in I had the same problem with my jazz bass. Ive used the same strap on both basses. I dont jump around like a maniac in fact i dont move at all.

Could it just be my strap or could it be the strap buttons? What can i do?

My drummer suggested putting some nut lock (less powerful super glue) in the hole

May not want to glue in the screw in case you want to change the strapbutton or resell bass.

The old flat toothpick trick should help with this.

* Get a flat toothpick (round ones tend to be a little too thick)
* Stick it in the screw hole to measure the depth
* Pull it out and break just a little short of the mark so it does not stick out of the hole
*Put toothpick in hole and reattach strapbutton.

my theory is this:
your strap is gripping the peg, no problem, but your are moving about and such, and it loosens the peg from the body, just like if you turned it by hand.

try some strap locks, that should, in theory, solve the problem.

you have had the same problem with several basses. You must harbour some strange psychic electrical manifestation that effects strap screws. You don't jump around a whole lot so it isn't that - spooky. Do you notice street lamps flickering around you at night?

I've never had a bass do that, and I bet I've had more basses than the victim in question here. The easy fix is, of course, the toothpick with some wood glue, but I just have to wonder if it's something you're doing.

Two basses, different models........I'm suspicious.

Yeah.... This has happened to me only with my SR. None of my other basses had that problem.

exactly, see my post up there, woodglue and toothpicks will not solve his problem.

he is unscrewing the peg, simple as that...
