I purchased a can of "Tone Finger-ease" guitar string lubricant, mfg. by chem-pak inc. Their claim "faster fret changes, reduced finger tenderness, stops string "talk". It seems to work pretty good. I have no complaint against it.

Yes it's Fast Fret for me. My guitarist turned me on to it. I love it because it's so simple. A few quick swipes up & down the neck and the strings and fretboard are clean. You'd be surprised at how grungy the pad looks after the first time you use it!

wouldnt the string be sticky afterward?
i hate sticky hands

There is no dribble. It is a very thin liquid that is applied sparingly only to where you rub it. No drip - no dribble. If you accidentally get any on your guitar's finish, just wipe it off and it will be fine. Try one - let me know what you think.

I got some of this stuff and used the first time last night - i was really surprised by how "clean" the neck and strings felt. I tend to be a clean freak about pretty much everything - I'm always wiping down my basses, etc., and this stuff is a prayer answered.

Of course now, I'll be looking for something even better...... :p

Another alternative is to use metholated spirits to clean your strings (or less smelly alternative, surgical spirits). Easier than boiling them.

In terms of cleaning rosewood fingerboards, firstly put some masking tape over the pickups and then use fine grade wire wool to rub the dirt off the fretboard (the tape stops the dust from the wire wool getting stuck to your pickup)
