Hi all! I need some help....

I got my first EBMM today...a JP6 with Piezo, and I'm quite impressed. However, it's also my first guitar with an unfinished neck. I've searched the forum and FAQs, and done a ton of reading on maintenance. Unfortunately, it didn't answer all of my questions. There are lots of conflicting reports on how frequently the neck should be oiled/waxed, and how often lemon oil should be used. There are also conflicting reports on whether Finger Ease is bad for EBMM fretboards.

1. Most of the existing posts center around care and cleaning of the neck and fretboard. There seems to be very little info on cleaning the strings. I have very acidic hands, and I LIVE by Finger Ease. I wipe my strings down with it after every session. If I don't, my strings die VERY quickly. I also generally use the same rag for my neck wipe downs. If I can't use Finger Ease, what can I use for my wipe downs after every session? A dry rag won't cut it for me - I need some kind of cleaner/lubricant that can be used frequently and act as a string lubricant. Any ideas or suggestions? Would Finger Ease be ok if I confined it to the strings (by wiping rather than spraying) and using something else for the neck?

2. I'm clear on my options for gun stock oil and wax. However, can someone recommend a good lemon oil and where I might be able to find it? Are there any better guides as to how often these products should be used?

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. I'm afraid to play my JP now because I don't have any wipedown options!

Thanks,
MikeVt

finger ease is fine i wouldnt spray the hell out of it but a light coat on the strings wont hurt anything .play that guitar thats what its for. as far as lemon oil i use dr stringfellow i got it at my local music store i also use those murphy's oil soap pre treated wipes to clean the neck when i do a string change but thats with a maple fret board with rosewood just stick with the lemon oil . have fun with the jp they are great guitars.

fingerease will do you just fine. it is safe..& should work the same way you are use to w/ your other or previous guitars. my guess is if you are using fingerease regularly...that alone will keep your neck healthy.
