This is my first time buying ernie ball strings. What is this. It's not unwounding, it's just a random spot with extra wounding wire. Can I fix it? Why is it there? I'm so confused.

Whatever that is, it shouldn't be there. You can contact the Ernie Ball customer service team and let them know- they can take care of you. (Link in my signature.) Do you have photos of the packaging? They'll need to see that the strings are legit (not counterfeits - there are a lot out there) and help identify when they were made.

Hi! So it was legit a legit package from guitar center verified by customer service lol I had also called customer service, it was just a manufacturing error and I'm getting sent new strings lol. Apparently the wounding machine went backwards for like a second and just carried on like nothing happened and no one caught it. Apparently there are like a few packages out there that just have a string like that lmao. Thank you for the advice!
