I won't have a problem with strings binding at the nut if I use .010s and the guitar comes with .009's, will I?

I just traded Silos with vexed73 (which I'll comment on in a sec) and the nut looks like its cut specifically for 9's.

I changed mine to 10's and eventually went back to 9's. No problems with the nut at all, if you want 10's go for it.

Mine played fine with the 10's. I just decided to go back to 9's on that and also changed out my Petrucci to 9's. Maybe I'm a wuss but I thought the 9's felt a little better under my fingers.

I had to make minor adjustments to both guitars, but they played fine and were setup to suit me in both cases.

I've switched between 9s and 10s thoughout my 16 years of guitar playing and I haven't had any more occurence of string breakage or tuning problems with one gauge over another.

It truly boils down to preference, and basically how stiff you like the guitar to feel. Some of the best guitar tones ever recorded were done with 9s, and likewise with 12s and 13s. It's all about how you play. ;)
