Are string gauges of a four set the same as the first four on a five set? Provided the same brand, and type string set and also purchasing a medium gauge set. For example is a medium set of GHS bass boomers for a four sting bass the same as the first four for a medium set of GHS bass boomers for a five. I am looking to save a few dollars by replacing four strings and keeping the “B”.
Also the tech guy that did some fret work on my bass recommended light strings for the bass. Better for the neck and reduces neck warping. Is this a problem using medium strings? I don’t like the feel of the light strings.
