Hey there folks, I usually play alot of Dropped-D songs on my bass, and was wondering if its possible to stick like lets say a 130 guage string as an E string on the bass, or would this end up not even fitting into the nut? I'm currently using Power Slinkys and the E string still feels a bit floppy-ish when I play.

Thanks!

I just tuned a 130 to D, and it works fine! It's prolly the tightest string I have ever had on any bass, but no problem.
You will have to widen the nut slot though.

Gin,
If you use that 130 for your E, make sure that you use the right "rat-tail" file to increase the width of the nut. Be very careful when you do this. We file the slots down pretty close to the 1st fret so, don't go too, far. I like to also use a couple of pieces of masking tape underneath the strings, on the headstock side, so as not to file into the headstock.
Good luck!
