Hello - I just bought a used Stingray Special and the string height screws will not go lower. There is plenty of travel left in the thread but they stop just higher than suggested set up height. I can raise them, but they will not go lower. I don't see any glue or loctite on the threads. Anyone have a suggestion?

I took a barrel off and the head of the adjustment screw will not pass thru the top opening on the barrel. On my other EBMM basses, they will extend thru the top opening in the barrel. Are the special saddles different than pre special?

Welcome to the Forum.

The Sting Ray Specials only have the hollow saddles which don't allow the height adjustment screws to pass through the top. In turn, it's preventing you from lowering the saddles any further. To overcome this, the neck needs to be shimmed at the rear of the neck pocket on the body. Shimming will angle the neck and allow further lower adjustment. Your local Guitar Tech can do this for you.

Your height adjustment screws can only enter the saddle screw holes from underneath and not the top.
