I was hoping someone could help me with a problem I am having I have a 2006 Sterling HS 4 string and I like my action low but I am getting buzz on the A string on the 8th fret only. How would i fix this I don't want to raise the action. Can I fix this myself or do I need to bring it to a tech? I would appreciate any help I can get as I have never had this problem before.

Thank you & peace
Dave

try a straight edge to see if you have a high fret.

in either case, best bet is to take it to a luthier.

I also have a string BUZZ but it is dependant on what sting guage I use. The lighter the string the more of a buzz. The heavier the guage the less buzz to none. Is on the D string first fret. Looking at the nut under the D string it looks worn, which lets the string sit just a tad too low. I do not think there is any way to fix the nut other than to replace it..
A buzz at the 8th fret could be a high fret. As above Luthier is your best bet to resolve it.

Need more info. Is that an "open" string buzz at the 8th? or a buzz on the 8th when the string is fretted? i.e., the 7th fret. Typically that kind of buzz is isolated to that "fret" in question.
