I ride my action very very low. Low to just the point before it rattles. Anyway, in my band, we play in drop D alot and of course and with my current set of strings this is no good because the string gets alot of buzz and it loses alot of tone. I use Ernie Ball Hybrids. Can anyone recommend a different set of strings that Ernie Ball makes that are better for playing in drop D?

Any thicker gauge will be better.

My thoughts exactly :)

I used to drop the E-string to D in my old band on my fourbanger (before my beloved SR5 came along). I switched to Power Slinky Bass 55-75-90-110 and it did the job. The higher stringtension keeps them from buzzing ;)

Good luck to ya!

I am confused, you say mwaah, is this a fretless bass? Dropping down to drop D on a fretless on a bass that is not setup for it all the time, probably won't ever be good.

It's a playability compromise, but in addition to a heavier guage, you could raise the action on the E-string.
