Just got a les paul custom, what strings are best for this style of guitar. Only been playing for a year but want something that works well.

I'd recommend getting some Regular Slinkys. They're a great set to start with. Next time around, you can go lighter or heavier if you want to, but this is a nicely balanced standard set.

super slinkys have been mentioned, but to be honest i aint got a clue what the difference would be. what are the easiest to play with if you a novice

Super Slinkys are a lighter gauge than the Regular Slinkys and will be easier to play. Some of the more seasoned players find the Super Slinkys a little light on a Les Paul, and as DCStingray says Regular Slinkys are a great choice. Regular Slinky are the same gauge and similar tension to what Gibson usually puts on the Les Pauls in the factory.

if you want that good ole' classic crunch n' punch on that Les Paul use Rock n Roll Classic Super Slinky - Pure Nickel strings #2253 - NONE BETTER FOR A PAUL!!
