Hey,

Having a small bit of difficulty getting a few techniques down on my new Jp6!I have the guitar in standard tuning as i do all my guitars but the strings seem that bit tighter than my others guitars, when i lower the tuning even down half a step the difference is amazing, its perfect, but i need to play in standard tuning!!
Just wondering does anyone know is it possible to reduce the string tension without having to change the string gauge or lower the action??

Cheers
Killian...

Try adjusting the truss rod wheel. It will lower the action, but a bit diferently than lowering it by the bridge saddles. It will take some relief out of the neck, reduce neck bow in the middle. It is so easy to adjust it is no big deal to try.

Yeah, the string tension is the same on any/all guitars in standard tuning, if using the same guage strings. It's a "weight" thing calculated on a string. How much weight needed to stretch the string to a certain pitch.

The only thing is guitar set-up. That's what makes it "easier" to play/bend etc. . . but it is still the exact same "tension" as on other guitars that are equal in tuning/guage. At least in that respect.
