Question string tree on '97 Axis Sport - original???

I recently acquired this 1997 Axis Sport. Notice that it has a string tree on it. Could this have possibly been factory original or definitely added later? Notice that this version has the pickguard. It's up forsale at Reverb.com if anyone is interested. Thanks in advance for any expert information on this.

I had always liked trans green in pictures but was still a bit apprehensive. You are 100% correct, it's amazing.
