So My bass player got a new bass back in February from guitar center in Highland Park IL. He paid for the case but they didnt have it in stock, so they told him they would get it for him, well he finally got it last week, after guitar center has been beating around the bush every chance they can get, and he finally made them go pick it up from another store and drive it to his house. So he was at work, but when he got home, he found out that the bass does not properly fit inside the case...the upper part of the body, (closest to the low B string) does not sit in the case, and has no way of getting in, so his bass is not sitting right...is this normal, or after all this crap did GC even give him the wrong case?

I bet they gave him a Sterling case, similar exterior but the inside is too small for any other MM bass.

yeah it came with a case, just the wrong case.

what GC does NOW is they receive the bass, put the bass on the floor, and put the case back in the box and stick it in the warehouse, this "ensures" that the case stays clean and supposedly not broken.

this usually works.

last time i went into my local GC to play a bongo, the guy told me he'd give me a break and throw in the case, "for free."

gee, what a pal.

Hmmm What bass did your friend get? If he got a Bongo, it should be noted that Bongos were not offered with cases for some time after their debut. So maybe your friend got an "old" MM case that wasn't yet fitted for a Bongo.

Anyway,

Just give that GC a call and see if you can get the correct case. Simple as that. :)
+1 :)

Actually, if the Bongo had been there for a while, it didn't come with a case. Not saying that's the way, but it could be. Both my Bongos were bought caseless.

he was more than likely referring to the fact that they inventory the cases seperately, they sell them with cases, but you are indeed buying a case as well. He was probably saying he'd sell you the bass, and take off the cost of the case, which would knock off probably about a hundred bucksish..

yup.

When I bought my Sterling from GC, the sales guy had to go next door then lugged it in. I was surprised to see that the case came in a box and plastic wrap since I had thought the basses arrived in the case.
Luckily for me, the sales guy that I dealt with, took his time to make sure everything was right before I left.
