I recently bought some Ernie Ball Power Slinky guitar strings for my Peavey Predator (I know), and when I strung the guitar and tuned it, I saw that the tremolo bridge was at least three millimeters above where it should have been. Normally it's parallel to the face of the guitar but with the strings it was at an angle. I've never had this problem before.

Any ideas?

Edit: I think all I have to do is adjust the springs in the back cavity. Generally I used to use the same strings so I never had to do this, which would be why I was confused.

Edit again: I broke the high E string again, same as with the last couple pairs I had, all different brands. Everything is perfect with this guitar except this damn tremolo bridge. Honestly I'm never going to get a guitar with one again.

hi, so different brand of strings = different tension, bridge could raise but adjusting your bridge springs will help.

As for the breaking E string if you are using tremolo a lot it will break faster than normal using it. The problem might be also that E string bridge saddle, maybe it has sharp edge or sth, try using Nut Sauce there,

hope this helps,

The E string breaks while tuning or very soon after. I never use the tremolo - I don't even have the arm on the guitar. The string broke near the tuning post, not the saddle.

I'm buying a new guitar soon.
