hey hey,
this isn't very MM related, but more of a technology question.

i got a new bass at a thrift store. it cost me 40 dollars plus tax, and it's a 5 string fretless, it has a Seymour Duncan jazz in the bridge, and a Seymour duncan P in the neck. it's the pickups with the 3 switches on them.

anyway, the action is horrible, but the sound is sweet.
the trussrod is stripped, so any wrench just turns and turns.

any suggestions on getting it tweaked?

oh yeah, the headstock is pointy, and has a logo in a fender style but it says...umm....fuc*er on it.

any clues as to what it is or how to get the rod goin?

thanks

I've always been told that if the rod is truly stripped there's nothing you can do for it. I would just replace the neck.

Still, I would take in to a pro and have them inspect your rod :D

Ohh yeah, the Fuc*er line was halted back in the early 80's because they were sued by the Fokker Co. Apparently, they were using defective Fokker trussrods and didn't change the Fuc*er by at least 20% to give it it's own shape and design which is required by the patent office. Fuc*er's can be found in slimy pawnshops all over the country, but they don't have the value of a real Fokker.

You may want to try and put a washer or 2 between the adjuster and where it meets the truss rod..Not sure if this is the problem but it may work.

LMAO :D
I think you are shafted with that rod, but if you are that concerned about it, call a shop and talk to a tech. They can tell you fo-sho if they can fix it.

If im not mistaken the actual "nut of the trusrod can be replaced. it fits on some thing on the end of the actual trussrod. The reason I know this is that I had Jazz bass V that the truss rod nut stripped in. and thats what they replaced the nut cost like 5 dollares from fender.
