I bought up a SUB 4 from Musician's Friend, and I was hoping it would make a good travel bass. It was a killer deal as it was on clearance, there was free shipping and I had a $150 coupon that was going to expire.

It showed up last Thursday and I am really super happy with how it plays and sounds, and it is really built solid! It's almost too nice to travel with.

I did call customer service today and get a new pickguard coming. The aluminum vibe doesn't work for me to well.

Congrats on the SUB! I also swapped guards and went black on black. Great basses and sure to be sought after by MM collectors years from now.

Yep... it's not really "SUB" par in any regard. I love SUBs. They sound great.

Nice! Hey, what does S.U.B. stand for anyway? Anyone?

I think it is Sterling's initials or the initials of one of the founders. I read something about the S.U.B. naming a while ago.

Anyways, I was a Fender and Gibson guy for 20 years until I picked up a cheap SUB last month. Best $400 or so I have ever spent on a bass. It sounds better than any Fender, Gibson or Warwick I have ever played.

I am hooked!

I played a SUB 4 at GC tonight that I almost took home. My wife forbade the purchase. One of the best basses I've ever played, period. I may yet go back for it.

How could I forget such a wonderful instrument? What happened to that one anyway?

I just picked up a SUB 5 with the 2-band preamp. My need for a five string 2-band Stingray(SUB) has been fulfilled. This thing smokes!!

Ben remember, asking forgiveness is easier than asking permission :D
