Sub bass neck finish - help?

So the sub bass neck has a satin finish right? Well has anybody else's started to go glossy over use? Mine has and i really like satin finishes. Is there any way i can get it satin again?

I was also thinking of stripping the neck and finishing it with gunstock oil and wax like on the ray because i really like how they feel. How much does gunstock oil and wax cost? and can anybody link me to the right stuff? Would this be sensible?

Thanks

Well... I had to use the search function as well... I just knew Psychicpet likes his Bongo neck sanded, and that there was someone else who'd done it. But in fact, using the keywords "neck sand" led me to the thread. It's like with Google.... the search function is your friend! ;)

ahh true, well now you linked me to it i actually remember that one coming up...

Anyway would the best way to go be to just sand it down with sandpaper then smooth it off with a really fine grit and then i read something about him using wax and oil... do you use both in conjunction with each other? If you do what order do you do it in? if not which is better?

I just googled gun shops and i found one in nottingham city centre that i could visit, would they probably know more than you guys?

I've never done something like this myself, and have not had the need to do extensive maintenance on my bass necks with wax/oil, so I don't know too many details. But if you do a couple of more searches, there's a lot of material already covered on these forums, it's reall amazing.

However, I think it would still be great if someone who has already done this procedure could chime in with their experience.
