Couldn't find anything on the forum search on this, but I was wondering what current MM neck is closest to the carve on the SUB necks? I remember playing a SUB a year back and just fell in love with the neck and am now wanting to know what carve that most resembles so I can start planning on getting an MM guitar.

Thanks guys!

On Saturday I played a SUB in a shop - for the first time. After playing some crappy guitars I enjoyed this one really.

I´m used to play a Morse - the body shape is the same. I think the neck was also very compareable - of course with the black SUB-finish, which I didn´t liked that much ...

Could you write a bit bigger? :D

I loved the SUB, it felt like home compared to the other guitars in the shop. Also, the bassplayer of our band plays a SUB4 and I played this one often so far. It is a great instrument but I noticed that the neck tends to get sticky if you don´t clean it regularly.

I love the SUBs and the idea that was behind - Don´t want to beat a dead horse here!

Hey, can I ask this then. Why not clean your guitar necks regularly? As in after every playing session? Seems like common sense to wipe it down. It also makes sense to wash the hands prior to play.

How is a naked neck gonna look and play if it's not cleaned regularly?

All I'm sayin is I have no problem whatsoever with a painted neck. That would be on my previous Les Pauls or on my Sub 1's.

My Sub 1s neck profile seems to be alot like a Silhouette/Silhouette Special, if not exactly like them. I could be wrong.

When it comes to necks. painted or naked, seems to be personal preference. I like em both. But I'm not real fussy like alot of folks. Give me any EBMM neck finish, I like em all. I do prefer rosewood boards though.

Kick that damned horse... ;)

I have the Sub and the Luke, they feel totally different. Luke is a soft V shape with a 12 in radius(great for thumb over the top blues playing), Sub is C shaped neck(great for all styles) with a 10 in radius.

I prefer the C, but the Luke has its own mojo unlike any other.

Hmmmm....I have a sub1 and an Axis and they're completely different in feel. I just went to a Guitar Center after hours thing tonight and played their JP for a while. Also very nice but again, different completely from the other 2. I have yet to play a silo, luke or Al.

Highly finished necks need to be played and worn in and kept clean, then they become easier and less sticky. My 04 sub 1 doesn't get sticky any more and I've got my almost 40 year old Guild that's not sticky either. The rest of my guitars are either naked or very lightly finished.

I love the painted neck of the subs. I keep mine clean by wiping every time I'm finished playing. I have two subs, 1 with the painted and one without. I prefer the painted one, though the unpainted it right up there too. The sub is just a down right KILLEr guitar. Shame it went away. but, more for me, hheheheheh.

The sub neck is closest to a silhouette or silhouette special.
