Hi All,

I'm planning a SUB custom job on my recently acquired single HB sub, I've googled till my fingers hurt but can only find one company in the US that would make one - (For about the same price I paid for the guitar!) -

Anybody able to help me??? - and would a Benji one fit ???

Basically it's a blue sub, so I was planning a mirror blue pickguard, putting a PAF humbucker cover over the pickup and changing the knob for the Ernie Ball Tele knob on the shopotron....... cool huh???

Hiya fella.

I got my Sub pickguard done local by Jimmy Egypt, when they were still based at Sound Control in Glasgow. I believe they are now operating from CC Music in Otago Street.

I basically gave the chap my original tread plate Sub pickguard as a template, and hand picked my material.

I have to say the finished article was fantastic, a perfect fit.

Maybe worth giving him a ring in the morning. If I recall, it was around £30-£40 with new screws.

Any use?

Cheers!

I called them today - got some punk who wouldn't let me speak to jimmy or anyone - basically told me I'd have to bring the guitar in (even though they made one for sticky) -

JD - if you have any influence might wanna mention to jimmy whoever answers the phone isn't going to any efforts to put money in his pocket....

Jamminjim - the aurora project is next up.... Might as wll glow in the dark, the meds I've pumped in myself the last 72 hours I know I do!!!

Well I highly doubt they kept a template for the pickguard....

Well, if they do it on a CNC machine, like a lot of companies, they will still have the data, it's smart business.

Gutted :(

I've always been a touch dubious about some of the staff surrounding the guys who actually do know their stuff.

As you'll probably know, there are some really genuine guys in the Glasgow shops, but occasionally you do come across a jobsworth who doesn't feel the love for the axe chat.

Hope it doesn't put you off too much, their work is good; very good.

IMHO - the best overall upgrade for a Sub 1 is to slap a Silhouette Special loaded original pickguard on it. The old Silo interchangeability trick. ;)

Locking tuners would be something to consider too.

I would love a Silo Special abalone pick guard slung on mine, jamminjim. That said, I just can't bond with a blade switch, nor the hole it would leave when I would no doubt remove it! :)

Just a thought, Smelly, I intend to have a new pick guard made up very soon, and the current one (which is nice) might be put to the side. I have a lil' project in mind.

As it is not original, I would happily part with it to a forum member fae-up-by.

I won't be offended if you are set on a blue mirror 'plate, or don't really feel the love for the silver/blue pearl effect.

I am actually interested on how it would look on a blue Sub

Just PM if you want to have a look, i'll get it sent North in jig time.
