SUB1 Pickguard-Material

Hello Everybody
I am big fan of the sub1 guitar. This is a must have for me.
One question: Is it true that the Diamond Plate (Aluminum) pickguard is made of wood? I have read about that. So the aluminium-look is a fake? And what is about the Matte Black pickguard – is this made of plastic or also wood? It seems to me that in Germany only the aluminium-fake pickguards are available. Does anybody have pictures of the black one? I have never seen it.

First, the black one is regular plastic. I've played one with the black pickguard in GC.
In terms of diamond plate... The top layer is certainly made of thick aluminum foil, what's under it - I'm not sure, I never took the pickguard off of mine, but it's probably something that was a tree some time ago. But you can't tell unless you look really closely.

Well regardlee of what it's made of, the guitar flat out rocks and you will not regret the purchase...buy, post pics and enjoy, future brotha!

yeah, the underside is some kinda of paper fiber, and the diamond plate itself...well, that is why we have been recycling cans...LOVED my SUB, still hoping to get another....tho, i wish i knew where to get replacement guards for it. just something to jazz it up a little.

I have one of each, the plastic is a one ply plastic guard and the diamond plate is very thin. I wonder if the aluminum actually serves as sheilding in some way? These guitars do not have the sheilded cavities.
