Hi folks,

First, I want to restate how much I love this guitar and I'm glad I bought it.

Now that I got over the tunning issues I can really concentrate on playing it and not dealing with technical issues most of the time. However, there's a problem that started growing that I can't tell if I had it at first or I just suddenly discovered it.

Thing is, when I bend notes on the higher frets the thing chokes on me. I can't tell at all if this was evident before or it just started out of nowhere. I can say that it's winter time in my country and I wonder if the weather can drive the guitar crazy like this...

My question is if this is a setup related problem that can be solved by setting it up properly by a pro? what if the frets need leveling? there isn't much of fret wire there on the first place...

Like I said it only happens when I bend notes, not when I just play over those frets, and it's really evident on the higher strings. Lowering the action makes it a lot worse, and raising it, doesn't solve it completely.

What could be the problem?

What kind of condition are the higher frets in? This happens on my guitar, too (not a MusicMan, though), but I know it's 'cause of the fretware.

The guitar is brand new... it's only 3 months in my possession.

The frets look totally normal and have good height like the other frets...
I can't tell if one fret looks different in height than other or not...

I hope that a minimal leveling would solve this because the fret wire on this guitar is pretty thin and small... they are medium frets after all... I guess it's a price you pay when get this type of frets...

I really hope that this isn't a problem that will force me to do something extreme...

It sounds like a tweak of the trussrod is in order. I wouldn't panic. Either adjust the trussrod yourself or take the guitar to a good guitar tech and have them perform a setup.

Hi,

Should the Truss Rod be loosened or tightened?

Which direction does what? that is if I put the guitar on me for playing position, as the adjustment point is on the end of the neck?

Thanks guys...

If the buzzing happens above the 12th fret area, tighten the truss rod, and raise the saddles.

To tighten the truss rod, with the guitar held as if you were playing, turn the wheel down toward the floor.

Hi,

Thanks for the insight!

However the truss rod adjusting did not solve the choking notes issue.

I think I'll let a pro look at it, I ain't taking no chances here...

Thanks anyway!
