Hey guys, I sold my favorite guitar ever, about 10 years ago, and I still regret it. It was a Sunburst Van Halen model, serial # 80850. I bought it new in 91, i spent my life savings on it at the time( I was 13). I bought it NJ guitar &bass center in Edison NJ. In 99 or 2000, I sold it on ebay, to a guy named Rudy Chavez in California, I noticed a few months later he posted it for sale. I imagine he sold it, and I just want to know if it went to a nice home. I played the hell out of it, the frets were beat to hell when I sold it, It had a few nicks, noticably on the back, and a nick on the top of the headtock. I replaced the toggle switch as well. If anyone has it, I would be really interested in buying, REALLY interested. Even if you don't want to sell it, I would love to know if it is still alive( iknow this is crazy talk , but I loved that guitar). If you have it just shoot me a message, maybe in the future you might want to sell it and I would like to be first in line for it. It's got 10 years o my teenage sweat in the neck still....

Do not feel awkward in that request as there are a lot of guys in the back of Vintage Guitar magazine a hell of a lot older than you looking for their first guitar, as it is not an uncommon request. You stopped at the place I would of tried first too, and it is good you still have the serial number.bbake gave you some good advice and try posting in the WTB thread with description and serial number. Maybe you could even ask in the my serial number thread and use the serial number in the search engine. I would then go hit some other forums. By the way some guitar for a 13 year old.lol Good Luck

DOB was December 2nd, 1991, I got that guitar for christmas(present to myself) , I think it was one of the first on the east coast. At the guitar shop they had a Red, Gold and a green alongside the Sunburst. The red and the green were 1299$ and the green and the sunburst were 1699$ cuz the tops were way nicer. At first I was just gonna buy the gold cuz Eddie said that was his #1, but the sunburst blew me away. My dad gave me the extra 500 bucks, so I could get it. It was the last Christmas present I ever got from him.Guys I'm still searching, and I plan on finding it and bringing it home. I will post updates on my search, and I hope to join the EBMM family once again! I do have my eye on an axis but I would much rather save my money for the big score, My Sunburst evh,

That is a ransom. It's ridiculous. i sold some really cool guitars in the past that is worth a ****load more than what I paid and sold them for.
Anyway, good luck on bringing that EVH home.

Oh, Rudy Chavez has disappeared , besides it's such a common name, I guess I should consider a PI, I hope Magnum will come out of retirement for this one.

Who knows... maybe it turns up. The guy who started Papa Johns Pizza recently was reunited with his beloved Camero muscle car he sold many years ago.

Maybe do a search on how he found it...though he might have overpaid to get her back. He was was certainly in a position to do that.
