Question Super Locks w/ Thick Strap

I have a pair of Dunlops on a Levy's strap. The problem is that the strap is too thick and I can't get the nut to screw on if I also include the washer. As a result I have to leave the washer off and I'm not as confident that it will hold.

I don't sling the guitar around my neck or do anything similarly risky, but I still like to know that my guitar's less likely to fall on the floor. Do the EB Super Locks handle thick straps any better?

Any info would be greatly appreciated . . .
