It's time for new strings on my Ray. Never done it before. Just curious ... if I go with Regular versus the stock Super Slinky Nickel Roundwounds, will it impact the nut at all? I realize the tension will be slightly higher and truss rod will need to adjusted ... just wondering if I can just slap the slightly thicker Regulars on with not too much fuss.

Thanks!

Thanks Man! The Supers seem to be pretty snug in the nut ... so wasn't sure if the slightly thicker Regulars would work. I thought I would try the Regulars but wanted to leave the door open to go back to Supers if I don't like them (i.e. no nut mods). Thanks again!

I did my first string change this weekend and installed EBMM Regulars (versus Super) Slinky's. Did a Truss Rod/pickup height adjustment/tuning ... and I'm really diggin' the Regulars. The slightly beefier strings and higher tension makes for what I think is improved tone ... especially the E string. I think I'm going to stick with the Regulars.

I didn't adjust the bridge saddles ... too many factors I don't understand i.e. relationship between Truss and saddle adjustments. The string gauge delta is minor, so I think the truss and pickup height adjustments were all that was required.
