I recently changes the pups in my Super Sport to the Liquifire and Crunchlabs. Since I changed them, in the neck position, I have an intermittent loss of power akin to it dropping from humbucking to single coil mode. I've checked the pickup and it is fine and everything else seems OK but it is still happening. Anyone else had this problem or can suggest where to start?
Second, I love my Super Sport but it is an older model with the silver knobs and I prefer the regular Axis style creamy knob with the numbers on it. However, the shaft on the pots with the silver knobs do not support the cream knobs so if I want to change the knobs, I need to change the pots to those with split shafts. So in short, if I want to do this, I need to know the value and taper of the pots in the guitar - does anyone know this?
Finally, an added complication is that as my SS has a Piezo bridge, the pots are mounted to a PC board. This could be a dealbreaker unless I take it all out and start from scratch. An option to do this would be the to swap out the MM piezo electronic with the Graphtec Ghost kit. I know all of this sounds like a lot of work to have the plastic knobs on my guitar but it is like an old friend in my hands and I don't want to have my enjoyment spoiled by the knobs as my preferences have changed.
Any advice gratefully received. Thanks.

Hello there-

I recently changes the pups in my Super Sport to the Liquifire and Crunchlabs. Since I changed them, in the neck position, I have an intermittent loss of power akin to it dropping from humbucking to single coil mode. I've checked the pickup and it is fine and everything else seems OK but it is still happening. Anyone else had this problem or can suggest where to start?
Sounds like you're shorting out a coil (if the pickup gets noisy at the same time ... then, yep). Unfortunately there's not much advice that can be offered ... you're going to have to re-check all of your wiring and solder points. Worst case, take it to somebody that's handy and have them look as well.

The mag volume & tone pots should be 500k audio taper. The piezo volume is probably 25k linear taper. Note that all of them should have markings on the back, so you can check. Worst case, drop the customer service folks a line and they can confirm.

Finally, an added complication is that as my SS has a Piezo bridge, the pots are mounted to a PC board. This could be a dealbreaker unless I take it all out and start from scratch. Well ... you could unsolder them, but it would be a hassle. Maybe you can find some hat-style knobs that work on solid shafts? (What you'd put on Fender amps, etc.) I've never looked, but I'd wager you could find something with a bit of searching.
