Hey,

Newbie to the forum here.

I just picked up an 8 yr. old SS. Red off of the Bay
$600 shipped, looks to be in pretty good shape.

Anywho. I have a Boogie MKIV and an Gibson SG Standard at the moment. Great combination.

My question is, what difference might there be in using the SS compared to the SG¿¿

Thanks, Mick

same as a difference between a Rolls and a ford :D

any other questions ? :p

Tonal differences I suppose is what I´m thinking.

I won this at what I have been told is a good price. There seems to be a lot of
good reports on the axe, but, I have never played one. Since this is THE place I thought I´d try to get a better idea.

you'll love it Mick I'm sure. this baby can sound like a strat or a typical double humbucker guirar. The neck is to die for and the vintage tremolo is just perfect.

I have never been comfortable with the never ending neck of the SG. I will wait until April to get your feedback and if you don't like the guitar PM me I will buy it back from you :D

I don't think 3minboy is the seller, I think he is just saying "you'll love it" based on experience with same model.

Two potential (small) concerns though. the seller said:
1 - this model is no longer in production
2 - the tremelo is much more valuable than the non-trem versions.
.....neither of these are true.

btw, I have a Super Sport,,,,with 11's on it...it's sweet! I may put 10s on though.

Hopefully you can remove the pick holder with no damage to the finish

Nice guitar!

So then, it was an OK price¿¿

I have to be honest, my SG is one bad guitar, with my MKIV. Got a SD 59 & JB under the hood, locking tuners, almost never goes out of tune and mojo galore,
so...

I´m really looking forward to the SS, I´m an old Chevy guy so I like just calling it an SS. Looking forward to the trem and the split coil, I guess thats what it is as far as the 5 way switch goes.

I will be bringing the axe back to Mexico, so I would think if I don´t like it I could get some pretty serious cash for it here.

Keep this in mind , before BP raises his hand:
EBMM permits forum members to post personal "for sale" ads for Ernie Ball Music Man guitars and related items only (ie. volume pedals, branded strings, straps, etc.)

Migueas,

First, it's good you're in Mexico. I know up here in colder New England, if I was receiving an Axis, the SG would be destined for my wood furnice.

The difference between an Axis Supersport hard tail and one with trem is $50 new, so there's not a huge difference. I have one of each and believe me.....for the price you got it for was a real steal!
