I don't know what SVD means, but that description also states that it is a semi-hollow electric, with a poplar body. Somebody is being payed to much for their job.

Yeah, I noticed that semi-hollow body thing, too.

I figured I'd just ask about the SVD thing, since we all know the other one is compete horsesh!t. ;D

That's pretty funny. That rep from GC is based at the one I go to in Cherry Hill. I have to go there on Saturday so some ball breakin' is in order. :D

There's some routing on the front side of the body for the coil-selector switch. Clearly this bass is a hollow body. I mean, c'mon, it has a cavity for the controls and electronics, right?

I don't know, but I do know it's the only "Semi-hollow electric" Sterling I've ever seen.

Well, it's not just any Sterling, it´s a "STERLING 170 BASS" and "SVD Sterling Bass". And poplar body, no less. ****, someone tell Big Poppa to hire this guy as marketing manager ;)

I have not seen an Ebay auction from the Guitar Center that is accurate. They need to hire someone who can use a computer AND play guitar.

Here's the response from the seller who I asked what SVD meant.

"I made a typo because its SUB not SVD. Not sure what it stands for but, i know its one of their low end bass models like a esquier is to fender. Its still a musicman so the quality is still there."

You would think that someone that works for a company that sells these products would at least know something about them!

I'll bet Sterling and the gang would strongly disagree that the SUB models are equivalent to the Squire models. Of course he did state that Musicman = quality.

wanna know how these guys operate?

they are most likely a keyboard player or a dj, they find a used piece of gear, and take pictures of it, then go an pester the sales guys until they glean a modicum of information about the instrument, then they post it, forgetting most of what they learned.

that's the common process.

IEREP234 is a standup guy though, usually lots of good vintage stuff and accurate descriptions.

Of course, the fact that it ISN'T a SUB says volumes about this guy's attention to detail, too....
