Well, I never thought I'd say this, but I prefer the tone of the SVT410HLF bottom over it's big brother, the 810E. The 410hlf just goes LOWER and shakes the place much more than the 810E.

Now I was a big opponent to the "Bass Reflex" design for a long time. I have changed my mind. The newer bass reflex cabinets, (ported) seem to have tamed the "boominess factor", that I was so familiar with in days gone by.

Now the 410hlf ONLY puts out a max 125 db spl, as compared to the 810e's 130 db spl. So I loose a small difference in maximum output, but when I play these two side by side, switching from one to the other, without changing the volume on the amp, the 410hlf sounds louder. So reaserch was done and low and behold, a ported design will play "on Average" 3db louder than a comprable sealed design.

The 410hlf just gives me a bit more clean, clear, BIGGER low end than the 810e. Go figure??!!

I play through my BSE-410HLF all the time . The thing just shakes the room .

I had the same experience when using the 810 cab so now I just stick with the 410

Glad to hear (read) it, BB. I certainly have no complains on my end with my 410HLF.:)

As I have stated before on this very same subject ; I never use my 8X10 since I got the HLF.

Here's how sick I am, I want another one with another CL head.... oomph ...

just thinkin about it makes me wanna run to the bathroom and relieve myself  \\

the 4X10 HLF definitely RULES!

GK's are well built , solid running pieces of gear for sure.

side by side with an ampeg SVT, reliability withstanding, the GK is no match in pure bottom end and sonic timbre. thats just one mans opinion tho. or is it??? :p

don't get me wrong. I've played thru GK heads and liked what I heard. But it's still not an ampeg, plain and simple.

I've played through mesa boogie 400+. those , I thought, were absolute garbage. I traded that for my current SVT CL. Over the years the only reason I ever got rid of ampegs was because I had no means to move them. ounce for ounce, nothing touches an ampegs tone!

again, just one mans opinion... and we all know about opinions, don't we?? LOL

I did a side by side with a SVT-CL and a GK 2001RB both through an Ampeg 810 with an SR5 and the GK wasn't giving up anything..........
