All Lollars: a Tweed in the neck, Blonde in the middle and an Imperial in the bridge. I left the stock switching options intact - at least for now.

I scored this '97 on eBay last week and it arrived on Tuesday. It was in desperate need of a complete setup and new strings but it now sounds and plays great. I went to Tommy's (tommyindelaware) gig tonight so he could check it out. He played it during the first set for a while and when I left, he asked me to leave the guitar and he'd bring it to work tomorrow. I know the pickup options are a bit limiting to him after playiung the SM models all these years, but I think he liked it....

what a killer guitar !!!!! man there is somethin bout those ole sports that really does it for me. i'm really starting to think i generally prefer guitars w/ no maple caps.
this one is a light weight ash. ALOT like my al. but this one is fully loaded w/ lollars. i gotta testify lollars are VERY consistantly kickin ass pickups. that imperial bridge is excellent blend of clarity & fat balls. i got lollar single coils in most of my main guitars now too.
congrads on a diamond in the rough find. that thing was ragged when it came in. now it's a killer axe.

welcome back to the ebmm standard of excellence.....:)

Glad to be back! But even while I was "gone", I still told folks all the time that Music Man builds some of the highest quality instruments in the marketplace. I'll be getting a couple more sooner than later.
