It might not be up just yet. Best thing to do is to call in, especially if you are interested in one. I have a feeling they are going to go quick. I posted it up on our Facebook page just 2 hours ago and have been inundated with questions about it.

And... Ordered! :)

My sales rep said the guitars are still en route to Sweetewater, but should be there SOON - and they'll turn right around and out the door.

This will be my "office guitar" that I pick around on once in a while...

Going fast, boys - so jump on it! :)

Arrived today and I'm pretty happy with it!

No, doesn't have piezo, but is otherwise a FINE playing/sounding guitar. I've always been a "snob" and not looked too closely at the "Sterling by..." guitars, but this is quite the performer. Neck is unpainted (the classic EBMM feel I like!) and the Crunch Lab and Liqui-Fire pickups appear to be a match to what's in the higher end models.

Yup, quite pleased with this guitar - and it came with a "Sterling by..." t-shirt and hat, so now I'm pimping! :)

Pre-ordered mine a couple days ago - pretty excited. I may decide against it though - I haven't had much luck with SBMM guitars; like I've said before - I can't find a nice one locally: the strings are horrible and dead and corroded, crusty fingerboard, high action, ALWAYS out of tune...

Perhaps I'll go for it and finally have a good SBMM. At least it's got the good pups - I already have a signed JPXI but this'll be my 'beater." Although, since I already have a signed one, maybe I should just go for one of the much nicer 100Ds if I'm going to get one at all. I don't know why they didn't do that to start - why bland silver with YELLOW sharpie (I'm assuming)? Why not the ruby redburst JP100D with white or silver signature? I'm interested to understand the reasoning behind the color scheme on this collector's item.

Also, the vanilla JP60 is ~ $620, give or take, and the CL/LF pups run ~ $160 - perhaps a bit more if you don't have a soldering iron or you pay someone to put them in (we'll call this the difference between the stock pups) - so there's still ~ $80 to justify in my mind if it's just the signature that makes it cost as much as a quilt-top 100D (~ $850). I can't find any other 60Ds so I can't directly compare the cost, unfortunately.

As you can see I'm still on the fence a little lol. I'm still leanin' toward yes, but not completely sold...

BTW kestrou - is the signature protected in any way or is it just sharpie that can be rubbed off? I can see that it's in a place where it's not likely to be rubbed off without explicitly rubbing there (during cleaning or whatever) - but I'm just curious if they did anything more to increase the longevity. Thanks!

Siggy looks to be yellow/gold Sharpie directly on the silver body with no overcoat applied.

I agree that's not a very appealing color combination - but unless you're working at rubbing it off that's actually a very "stable" signature. I have... ummm.... SEVERAL signed guitars that I've accumulated over the years (better not say, just in case SWMBO looks here, but suffice it to say DOZENS! :) ) all signed like this and none have ever rubbed off, even a little bit. Of course, I don't gig with any of the signed ones so they're only ever wiped off with a dry cleaning cloth...

By the way - Sweetwater takes *care* of their guitars. I've bought several from them and you won't get corroded strings and crusty fingerboard. Especially on this model since it's "fresh out of the factory". OK, yeah the action is a little high, but that's two minutes to set to the way I like it, so I'm not complaining on that part. :)

The signature is with a Gold Paint pen, and is not clear-coated over. We figured to leave that to the purchaser.

The reasoning behind the Sterling Silver color for this special limited edition? Easy. We don't have any JP60D models other than this short run of 15 pieces specifically for Sweetwater. As always, opinions are like...I knew some people wouldn't like it, and I knew some would love it. That's just natural.

It's a great guitar, limited to 15 pieces, and is autographed by JP.
Probably the most collectable one that we will ever make.

Brian,

Color of the marker used is a pretty minor thing - I'm definitely in the "happy customer" camp.

Thanks for doing this special run so that I take a close look at the SBMM line! :)

You know what? I was about to email Dylan and tell him to release mine back into the wild when Sweetwater gets they shipment in the 23rd, but you may have just convinced me to keep it :)

I appreciate how the signature is on the body - there's something that rubs me the wrong way when the artist's signature is on the back plate. With those, I feel like EBMM could just send JP a box of them and a silver paint pen, he could mass-sign them all in a few minutes between gigs, send them back, and then there's an EBMM "signed by JP!" - Not saying that's what happens, of course, but it leaves the possibility open lol. But when the signature is on the guitar, you know at the very least he touched the guitar; maybe even picked it up, made sure it was worth his signature, then smiled satisfactorily as he applied his mark to another fine instrument; 'Only 15 to sign today, so there's no rush,' he thinks to himself.

As an aside, what kind and gauge of strings does the guitar ship with?

Hi Maj!
Great to hear that you'll pull the trigger on this one. You really won't be disappointed.
They are coming with 10-46 EB Slinky. Photo when you get it in!
