Hello everybody!

I am thinking about a new amp... so what do you think about a H&K Switchblade 100W or a Koch MultitoneII ...? My new amp should be versatile...

I have played the Switchblade a few times - it takes time to get a good sound out of the Switchblade - but actually i like that amp a lot with my LUKE.

The main reason i like the Switchblade concept is because it´s versatile (and still pretty dynamic).
Unfortunately i didn´t had the chance to play trough a Koch Multitone... so anyone who plays a Koch - give me some information please...

(Also in the race - a Peavey JSX - sounds also good to me...)

Thanks!!!

-Tom.

I'm in a similar position as well. I've also got the H&K Triamp II on my shortlist. Was very impressed when I tried one.

Has anyone here any long-term use experience with this one too?

(Sorry if I'm very slightly thread-jacking here;) )

guys,
yesterday i received my koch twintone and tested it through 2 1x12 marshall cabinets. didnt have time to test my other 2x12 and 4x12 cabinets with it.
i am an engl and marshall player till now.
the koch is great. unbelieveable to find such an amp.
its the 2 channel model which is enough for me. the actual version of the twintone has two gains for overdrive channel.
what you have is a wonderful warm and clear cleansound w/morse
and a wide varity of overdrive distortion sounds.
everytime very warm, clear. but the koch can also cry, scream, shout. everything i want. its a pure rocktubeamp.
i tried a bit recording w/recording out direct into my macbook and it also sounds great.
important for me are two mastervolumes and easy handling. its buildt like a tank.
i takes a few week to a gig i want to test the koch live so thats all for the moment.
btw, the MIE marshall 1x12 sound great also.
my advice
go for a koch or an engl
c ya

hello!:)

bungo, the triamp is also a very good amp in my opinion... and still an option to me... but in comparison the switchblade also has a very similar sound to the triamp and finally the switchblade is more versatile... it really takes time to get great sounds out of this amp - for me the switchblade is the best hughes and kettner amp besides the zentera.

augustyn - please give some more information about the koch-amp(s)...
the problem in austria is that koch amps are really rare...
by the way - ich bin aus st.pölten:D

The triamp is wayyyyyy more versatile than the switchblade. It's like having 6 channels in one head. I wouldn't be going nuts over the so so effects in the switchblade either. Amp is for amp. Effects boxes are for effects...unless you're using a vetta that is...

In any event I dig the Koch stuff above the HandK stuff...had a Multitone Combo and I loved it...good times.

have you ever tried to test a EBMM in austria? no way. our stores here in linz offer only F, G, P, I, .... guitars....mostly cheap ones.
i never saw koch or engl too. allthough engl is only 25 km from salzburg.
i had the possibillity to test kochs when i was in germany at a abi v reininghaus workshop. there they had different kochs in the musicschool.
i only can offer you to test mine near linz.
take care

Yeah I noticed you had one listed. Does that have the midi box thing in it or is that extra?

thank you...:)

the jsx is pretty cool - especially the lead channel... but honestly i like the switchblade a little bit more.
the effects on the switchblade are not a big thing to me - the delay is ok... - but the other effects (chorus, flanger, trem) i wouldn´t use anyway... 128presets are also really nice.

i´ve been told that the koch multitone has an awesome sound (some friends of mine played it and are crazy about that amp) - and the amp is a big deal for that price... i really don´t know... i am not that kind of person who buys something "blind" without testing - but maybe it´s the same with koch amps like ernie ball guitars - you can buy ebmm´s without testing because they are GREAT.

i was running from pontius to pilatus to play ebmm´s here in austria - - finally i baught a wonderful cbp lukeII from my buddy roubster (forum-member)... and I LOVE it (rob is the greatest by the way the luke looks like new and is in an excellent condition)!!! ...and some more balls will follow for sure!

i played an engl fireball - i missed some kind of "character". definatly not an allrounder.
a sound file from the koch multitone would be great and maybe it´s a help... i couldn´t find something... if anyone has a clip or a link - please let me know. thanx a bunch.

Something must be wrong with my ears, because I'm not too wild about the Koch Twintone at all.

The clean channel is killer, and I've never hooked it up to some other cabs, but I'm not 100% wild about the overdrive channel.

Anyone have any secrets? I've thought of a overdrive pedal or tube screamer in front of it, but I haven't really done anything with it yet.

Could be the Jensen speaker... I have the 1x12 combo, and I've heard others having better luck changing the tubes and putting a different speaker in it.

i only tried it w/marshall cabs with original england made celestions in it.
my engl is a 2x10 combo and also great sounding.
the same engl w/1x12 isnt my choice.
give it a try with a closed cab w/celestions in it.
since it is the twintone I i am going to use a tube king or a george dennis the tube pedal in front of it to have two gain stages for the overdrive channel.
the twintone II offers two gains already. also very interesting.
the combo offers extension cab plugs for sure....

Yeah, the straight up 1 x 12 combo just doesn't quite cut it for me.

I can dial in some pretty decent overdrive sounds, just not my style. The clean is definitely one of the best I've heard, though...

I think I am going to get an extension cab, but probably not a Koch, and I'll probably throw an overdrive in front and be in heaven.

Some people have switched out the EL34's for 6L6's (which I like more anyways) and they have had some very different results.
