Question Tascam bass trainers

Just got 'em both yesterday.

After a few hours of playing around, I'm very impressed with both. The Tascam is certainly going to be a great help as well as a fun little piece of gear.

The 280s are awesome, I've used them in a few different players around the house as well as with my bass amp.

Both are certainly going to sharpen my technique as they expose a lot of things that might go unnoticed in other settings.

I just received my MP3 version yesterday as well! Haven't had a chance to use it yet though. I did have the CD BT1 version for a few years. Only recently starting using it a lot. Great device. I have high hopes for the MP3 version!

Question for anyone who has used these: The CDBT1 had a 1 click EQ setting called "Mid-Shaper". This was my favorite, and was outstanding! The instructions only state:

The last parameter is the mid shaper displayed as MID which performs subtle
operations on the midrange of the bass instrument in order to emphasize the bass tones of your playing.

I emailed the company asking them exactly what this was doing to what frequencies. No reply. Would anyone know exactly?

The manual shows the device's frequencies, but not what "Mid-Shaper" is doing. My Stingray NAMM sounds outstanding in this device using that setting. Actually, all my basses sound great using that setting. Hope that is on the MP3 version as well!

Well there isn't such eq setting in the new MP3 version but what you do have is as follows, under PB Control (Play Back Control that is):

• EFFECT ON / OFF
• BOOST, with 3 levels of bass boost 1/2/3 these boost the bass frequency of a playback so that you can hear it better if you wish to learn a fast passage which you have looped or slowed down.
• ENHANCE which more or less does the same thing however it gives it more of a loudness effect over the whole frequency range.
• CUT which cuts out the bass frequency from a play back track so that you can play your own bass and practice with any song you like.
