I was pretty out of it when the call from Australia came in on my cell phone. I was with it enough to pass on Jack's number, but have no idea who it was that called, or how they got my number.

Well, I have a few guesses of who it was...

Can't have a proper bassfest without decent coffee.

I just found this combination sort of funny.

I have no idea.

Again, no idea. There's something wrong with the drummer, though.

Jack I would like to hear what is your take on that single H - 25th Anniversary.

Aside from praising it's looks you haven't talked much about playability and sound, and finally, what is happening to it: is Magnus having it, is Duarte having it, or are you keeping it?

If no one steps up, I'll have to send it back to Pete. I can't buy a Big Al 5 and then a 25th without selling my wife and son. I'm told by my lawyer that strictly speaking, in technical terms, this is illegal.

Okay, I did not want to like it very much because it has a maple board and is strung with rounds. (This is my problem, of course, not the poor bass.) I took it out of the box, tweaked the setup a little and sat here fooling around just a little while also having a conversation with my buddy Tod, visiting from Pennsylvania.

It was simply awesome. After Tod went to bed, I turned up some music and turned up the bass and played it for two hours. I can't imagine what the models with various pickups sound like because this single H was blowing me out of my chair. It saw some action during the party and everyone loved it.

Frankly, I'm trying to avoid playing it again because I know it isn't staying here. It could sure change what I prefer!

And not to be playing Sales Monkey again, but someone should talk seriously to Pete DuBaldo about this one. It's used and so can be shipped across the oceans and all that.

I'll be very sorry to see this one go.

Oh, and Mike's new bass sounded great. It didn't hurt one bit that Mike himself is one fabulously talented bassist, I promise.

What was Mike's new bass, the mint green classic? Oh and... forgive me one last question...

As you know I am getting a Big Al 5 SSS hopefully sooner than later, in your own views, how does a BA5SSS compare with say a Bongo 5HH and that 25th H?

Thanks

Hey, I see Bass beer in the background of this shot. I love that beer, especially the name; pronounce it any way you want.

In fact, I had garlic bread sticks available from a Bass Ale glass which once belonged to....well, never mind that, it's been disinfected over the years. I quite enjoy having those beer glasses even though I don't drink beer much.

Oh goodness, that's a tough one. I mean, there are all sorts of differences, aren't there? Electronics packages, neck profiles, body styles - kind of hard to compare if you ask me.

So... is Magnus a.k.a. strummer buying that beautiful 25th H or not?

Is he man or.... not?

I strongly believe he should... I mean how could he miss it.

Magnus look at the "dark" side... you would be immediately entitled to join this "elite" group:
Ernie Ball Forums - 25th Anniversary Bass Owners Group

and if you don't like maple fingerboards, "hint hint", there's always a way around it....
