I got my Sapphire Black Bongo back from the Left Coast a couple of days ago, and I didn't realize how much I missed it.

It turns out the culprit wasn't bad piezos, but the nylon wrap on the LaBellas were shorting out the piezos by preventing grounding with the strings. So, I basically shipped my Bongo to EB to have the strings changed. :D

I don't know what all Jon did by way of setup (my guess is he let Juan take a crack at it ;) ), but the bass plays better than it ever has with almost-too-low action. It plays so well, in fact, that I'm leaving the EB strings on there when I'd normally throw TIs on the bass right out of the box.

Thanks for the quick turnaround, Jon. After 19 years of playing, I can't think of another company that has given me the service that EB has since I became a Bongo Carrying Member of the EB Club. Apart from the most ingenius reinvention of the bass guitar, you guys should be more proud of your human skills.

Hey - I should get some credit here too! When you first posted a problem, I suggested losing those strings....

I won't say I told you so though... ;)
