Got my tort guard today, plus an Ernie Ball sticker (already got one on my car, so this one will be used in the studio) and a weird-ass rubberized pick thing.

1. The tort guard looks GOOD on the Sapphire Black Bongo, not so good on the green. Will install on Sapphire Black Bongo tomorrow.

2. Friend of mine saw the pick, said, "What is that, a doorstop?" Funny. Used it tonight to play "I'm A Believer" and it worked GREAT. I haven't used a pick in years, but I like this thingy!

Thanks again, Jason. You rock.

Rock On, Mighty Jack of Bongo!

Glad the stuff showed up--sorry it wasn't waiting for you. Of course, the Envy Green Bongo was waiting for you, so I knew you weren't shedding a tear for the tort guard. :D

I really liked the way the tort looked on my Black Sapphire Bongo, but I know I want tort on the White Whale, at some point, and I thought, "Why have two basses with matching pickguards if you don't have to?" I really like the white pearl on the bass, and it provides a nice contrast to Moby at a gig.

I'm glad you like the Wedgie Rubber! I saw them in BP a couple of months back, and they were only $1.50 for 3 from Musician's Friend, so I thought "what the hell." I was ordering some other stuff, and these didn't add anything to the shipping cost, so I got one set of each of the six different thickness/hardness combos.

I knew you had played with a pick in the past, and I've really enjoyed the rubber pick with Jazz Flats, so I thought I could spare one. I like to use a pick every once in a while, and these have the quick pick attack, but with no string clack (although that comes in handy sometimes, too).

Tried the tort on the Green Hornet, just didn't have the 'oomph' of the abalone.

But ho, yes, I say yes indeed, it is now installed on the Sapphire Black Bongo and it looks FAB.

I'd post a photo, but of course it looks just like yours, or pretty close.

Thanks! Let's see that MOTO guard on Moby Dick.

I'd love to put the moto guard on Moby--but the bass is SC/H and the guard is H/H. SQUARE PEG, ROUND HOLE, ya know? ;)
