I just met up with Ritchie Darling to swap my money for his DG Bongo H.

First off - Ritchie is a class individual. Bass was exactly as described, and he drove a long way to deliver it to me. I didn't even try my new bass out.....looked it over really quick and made the deal. My thought was - "It's a MM what could possibly be wrong with it" - and I was right....this thing is flawless.

So, since we met in the parking lot of a local Guitar Center to do the swap, we then decided to go inside to check out their stock. Some nice pieces were on hand - a Natural/Tort Sterling HS, Bongo HH, a couple SR5s. Didn't try everything, just chatted and mulled over the basses.

I really enjoyed chatting and hanging out with some basses. We need to have a Phoenix get together sometime before SOB II.

BTW, this is my first Bongo H, and I really like it. I'm going to try it out at practice tomorrow to see if it's going to beat out my two Bongo HHs. Regardless, it's not going anywhere, this one is a keeper.

Thanks Music Man for making awesome instruments, and thanks Ritchie for selling this one to me!

Heck yes I do.

I really thought you guys that have been raving about the single H Bongos were full of crap. I formally apologize to all of you. You were all right - these things kick booty!

For penance, I will buy many drinks when/if we ever get to meet again.

Got my Candy Red Single Hummer right here in my lap as I'm typing.

I'm still getting the setup dialed in, but it's very, very close to perfect.

And it sounds like....well, my Bongo wants to kill your momma.

Thanks, Biff.

MotoJ, can't wait to hear what you think about the single H versus the others.

The true test will be at practice, but my initial impressions are that the single H has a bit more clarity than my HHs. I'm a 1 tone kind of guy - I find my sound and leave it alone.

On the HHs, I left the EQ flat with both pickups on. On the single H, I boost the lows a little and get all the booty of the HHs with great clarity. I really dig this thing so far. Full report will be sometime tomorrow night - I'll try to get a family portrait tomorrow as well.

Now you know. And knowing is half the battle, GI ja... oh never mind.

Welcome to the club. There is something special about the singleH, isn't there? Seems to up it a notch over the HH which is counter intuitive. Enjoy.

A pre SOB get together would be great. I'm out of AZ 1.5 weeks before and 1.5 weeks after the 4th. Otherwise, I can easily make the drive up to Phoenix. NorM might like to come as well. Wouldn't you NorM? pssst, make sure to buy a couple extra rib-eyes

Just got back from Phoenix. It rained like you wouldn't believe! Had to pull off the road because we couldn't see! Ended up under a bridge with about twenty motorcycle cops and one dude in a Kaiser helmet! :D If you ever do business with Tom, you won't regret it. One helluva nice guy!

:D :D MOTO!!:D :D

Glad you are enjoying your your new instrument! It's always fun to pass along something that nice to someone who will put it to good use. It was a pleasure doing business with you. About half an hour after we left, I remembered the camera in my glove box! No pics!:( Oh well..... Man, if that Curbow had been in just a little better shape, I would have walked out with it! And I quite liked the Sterling with the single coil. I might just have to have that option on my next bass.

Had a great time chatting and avoiding the clerks. I have to give them credit though. they DID ask several times if I needed help. Much more than I expected from GC.
Went over to Sam Ash after we left and looked around. But didn't find anything I couldn't live without. My daughter did find a Hello Kitty Strat. But she's a lefty and it wasn't! Then it was shopping with the wife and kid. Ended up in KayBee Toys and walked out with three My Little Pony dolls and no new refrigerator. WHAT A TRIP!

:D :D

All the best,

Ritchie

I understand completely. My daughter's got an impressive collection of My Little Ponies... but I don't remember buying more than one or two of them. Hmm... can you say "grandparents"? :D
