Some of you may remember that back in January, I bought a Carbon Blue Pearl Luke from MakeNMusic.com in Chicago. I was a bit upset with it when I got it though. There was a small scratch in the clear coat that I was able to buff out with some 3M Hand Glaze. The thing that really irked me was that the matte finish on the headstock was less than perfect. It looked like it hadn't been rubbed out properly.

After a note to Jon I decided to sent it across the country back to SLO to be corrected. When I got it back, I wasn't completely satisfied with the fix. I sent a note off to customer service explaining that I wasn't happy but I'd live with it since I wasn't inclined to send the guitar back to Cali and spend another $45 in shipping. Especially since by this time, I owned the guitar a month and had practically never played it.

Well Dan from CS offered to have the guitar picked up via UPS at EBMM's expense and fix the headstock finish to my satisfaction. Today, I got the guitar back and am completely satisfied. It now looks like the new EBMM Luke I thought I'd purchased.

I know I probably made a pain in the @$$ of myself but I really appreciate EBMM doing what was necessary to make me happy. People are usually so willing to complain publicly that I felt compelled to say...

Thank you. Especially to Dan McPherson and Jon Smith (for setting up my Luke twice and for remembering I like .010s! :) )

I know with only 2 EBMMs in my stable that I'm not a "huge" customer but I also know I'll own more EBMMs in the near future. (In fact I'm selling my 27 year Les Paul right now so I can fund another.)

Thanks guys.

I am surprised to hear you were not happy with your Music Man, but knowing what great customer service Ernie Ball has (especially Dan McPhearson), I am not surprised you are completely satisfied with your guitar now. Ernie Ball Music Man is one heck of a company!

So true. We can't expect any company to be perfect all the time, but we can certainly appreciate one that does what it takes to make things right when even a minor flaw comes up.

It would be interesting to see a before and after pic of the headstock, to see how much it really was.

These are the only pics I have of the guitar. It's from before the guitar made it's first trip to SLO. It'd be almost impossible to photograph the problem. When I got it, the problem was only on the back. It actually had some gloss left in it from not getting rubbed out properly. When I got it back, it had been rubbed out front and back but you could see alot of grit marks in the surface. Now, it's been resprayed and looks the way it should. No swirl or rub marks.

Wow I think CBP fits the Luke very well:eek:

Nice one!

It sure does. It's the first guitar my wife ever commented on. The guitar is just beautiful.
