I did a quickie internet collaboration with a keyboardist from FL not too long ago, but I was awestruck how easily my guitar part came to this, using my Axis SS played clean, with very little effects. The guitar's got such a great tone!

You can find it at http://www.icompositions.com/music/song.php?sid=39200.

Yes, I am the Ignoramus. A lesson to be learned: Do not imbibe in alcoholic beverages when signing up to a music-sharing site, for your chosen name, which may seem like a good idea at the time, will haunt you to the end of your days. What WAS I thinking? Sheesh.

BTW, the post was really meant for those wanting to hear one of the many ways an Axis can sound, and was not a cheap ploy for self-promotion. Pictures can only go so far, you know.

Most of my playing is full gain, distortion-in-yer-face, Marshall-up-yer-a**, so it was sort of a special thing to stumble on this tune and for me to be able to smear my guitars into it.

It's the neck humbucker position. Plugged straight into Logic (i.e. not a mic'ed amp). A wee bit of chorus and reverb, and that's it. Considering how this guitar just screams when I normally play it, the clean sounding tone was a really nice surprise.

neck pickup

I replaced the neck pickup on two of my axis' to a humbucker from hell. It give me the clean sound I use more and blends beautifully with the Axis bridge pickup. It worth trying for sure.

used my black axis SS last night at a gig, i'm amazed at the clean tones really, really tight and punchy, cuts through really well. great axe!! while i'm on stage playing it the whole time i'm thinking about what colour i'd like the next one to be, and if i want piezo, or maybe a rosewood, or maybe an upgrade top.....next thing i know the song is over!!!!

Man, that is very very nice, extremely tasty licks and excellent tone. Fits the song perfectly, I like it a lot. Great stuff!

On a side note, I'm continually amazed at the tonal variety to be had with the Axis SS, especially with clean sounds. Seriously, it's like having 3-4 guitars, each with their own voice. It's one of the most versatile guitars I've ever heard (or owned).
