Hey y'all.
I've been waffling on selling my prized Geoff Gould 4 string graphite neck bass for a couple weeks. I feel like my needs in my current band would be better suited by a bass with a more personal character, such as Music Man basses have.
Now, we play in a VERY low tuning (Bb-F-Bb-Eb), which is essentially C-standard with a dropped 4th string. I've found that my most successful choice of strings has been a hybrid set consisting Slinkies in these gauges: 125-100-80-65. My ideal set would probably look like: 135-95-75-65.
So, all I'm really asking is, will I hurt a 4 string EBMM bass if I put those gauge strings on it? Will it work at all?
Thanks, sorry for the long post.
