Went to see the Eagles last night, mostly because they were playing just down the road. Didn't have huge expectations but I have to say they were absolutely great. Sounded just as good as all those classic records and a really enjoyable show as well.

Of particular interest was the 'extra' guitarist, introduced as Stewart Smith who brought out a whole range of EBMM guitars throughout the set, including an Axis Super Sport, a Silo (Special?), a very gorgeous 20th anniversary Silo and a white Silo doubleneck for Hotel California!

Never heard of this guy before but he and his guitars sounded great all through the gig.

Anyone here got any more info about this guy and his instruments?

Stuart Smith. He's from DC and used to play in a local bar band called Smalltalk ,

Since then he's played with the legendary Root Boy Slim's Sex Change Band, Rosanne Cash, Rodney Crowell, Cicadas, Don Henley's band and has done some amazing work with Shawn Colvin.

The Eagles Farewell 1 is expanding with new dates just added for Texas, Florida, Oklahoma, New Hampshire, New York, & New Jersey.

However, the band members won't be singing so loud when they appear for that 'other' date, a court appearance in on September 15, 2003 to face trial over the wrongful dismissal of guitarist Don Felder from the band.

Felder is taking action against The Eagles, their various companies and both Don Henley and Glenn Frey over his dismissal from the band in 2001.

Felder has filed for wrongful termination, breach of implied in fact contract, breach of written contract, accounting and breach of fiduciary duty.

The hearing is set for August 29 and the trial set for September 15 with an expected duration of 15 days.

The Eagles start their Farewell 1 tour on May 9 at the Richmond Coliseum. New dates have been added for Laredo, TX on June 10th, Tallahassee, FL on June 14th, Oklahoma City on June 22nd, Manchester, NH on July 21st, Buffalo, NY on July 22nd, Albany, NY on July 24th, and Atlantic City, NJ on July 25th.

Nashville guitarist Stuart Smith has signed on as replacement for Felder for this tour. However, this isn't the Stuart Smith from metal band Heaven and Hell. The announcement of the Nashville Smith to the line-up has created a great deal of confusion for the metal Smith who has received both congratulatory and hate emails since the line-up became known.

Further dates will be added in the US but there is word of an Asian tour after America that might just wing it's way down to Australia.

The Eagles expect to have a new album completed around the time of the tour. With the exception of the four new songs that were included in 1993's 'Hell Freezes Over' it will be their first album of totally new material since 1979's 'The Long Run'.

SO I GUESS HES BEEN THERE FOR AWILE?

Top info (and pictures!) folks. I knew I could rely on you!

So this begs the question, until Saturday I thought JP had the only EBMM double neck. Now I know there are at least two.

Are there any more out there?

Eddie Von Hogan? Pah! What a waste. I bet that one is tucked away in a case somewhere, not out on view being played where it should be!

Colin you grabbed that thing at the OH, nice. I remember seeing you there man, goodtimes for sure.

The powder blue Silo is a small scale if my memory serves me right. Each of the Ball kids got one.

That room was awesome and there were/are some great instruments in there. I especially like Tony Levin's bass.

Rodney Crowell found Steuart almost twenty years ago. Rodney has a nack for discovering new guitarists....the one before Steuart was this kid named Vince Gill the one after is an aussie anmed Keith Urban...His latest Will is a great player and they have this other aussie named Jedd Hughes that is fantastic.

If you ever want to hear a "dessert Isle" record with impeccable guitar buy Rodneys Houston Kid. IT is on Itunes an Amazon. Steuart co produced it and plays some fantastic guitar parts. It is one of my 5 alltimers...Lukes too.

I guess I have to be the one to throw the wrench in here - I absolutely love the Eagles and Don Felder is one of my favorites. His melodic leads are great.

I am very disappointed with the latest incarnation of the Eagles, even though I love the band and think they are all great musicians, The Melbourne DVD should have been shelved. I much prefer the Hell Freezes Over DVD - better playing, better singing, better all around.

The new guy is actually quite good, but as vocalists and as a band, they are lacking a lot this time out. Also those tinny guitars Joe Walsh is playing look nice, but sound thin - maybe it's his rig.

Sorry - big Don Felder fan - not the Eagles without him. It's equivalent to the Stones replacing Richards.

I bought a Blackmore Strat from Stuart some years ago (before I discovered EBMM). Nice guy.
