I wanted to save my 1000 post, but I just couldn't think of anything to say, well besides thanks EBMM and all my friends here at the forums...

For those of us who have been hoping and praying for music that creates in us a sense of sorrow, joy and wanting...that inspires us to write music that doesn't conform, but shatters the very fabric that labels the music of today, well my friends that day has come, for me anyway. I cannot remember being thrown for such a loop by any band/musician's release in years. I recall years ago listening to Pink Floyd, and getting these feelings of profoundness, or being lost in a musical journey while Led Zep drifted in a musical wonderland, but what has come lately, that literally causes one to step back and say to themselves...WTF? I think these days musicians have become preoccupied with, what others will think, therefore molding their music to fit...well its apparent that these guys didn't, its apparent that they've expressed themselves fully...even the CD's price tag of 7.99 CDN speaks louder than any advertisement can. Do yourselves a favour...get this CD, sit back, crank it and be prepared to laugh, cry, and be overwhelmed with whatever other bodily fluids your body will deem necessary to emit! Then grap your axes, and create man create!!!

Hey Raz, for your 1000th post, you could have at least done spell check  :p ;)

Just joshin' I am definately going to check this release out - I've read some great things.

Mike Portnoy is raving about this album. Here's a quote from him on his forum:

"THE MARS VOLTA

WOW!

I loved their first album, but the new one Frances The Mute takes their insanity to a whole new level...

This is one of the most DARING and extreme CD's I've heard in a long time! (reminding me at times of the first two Mr. Bungle albums)

It's so out there at times it will inevitably turn alot of people off...(critics are gonna slam the **** out of it - giving a bad name to progressive music - is this the new millennium's Tales From Topographic Oceans?), but if you are patient and open-minded this is an absolutely amazing journey!

MP "

I guess it's worth checking out if Raz and Mr. Portnoy are giving it the thumbs up!!

Congratulations on the 1000th Raz.

I've been wanting to listen to The Mars Volta for a while now. Steve Vai puts it as his #1 virtuostic album in the new Guitar World issue. Since Steve puts this album before any Zappa and Hendrix albums, I have my hopes set real high. I am about to order the CD from amazon :)

Amazon is asking USD 9.98 for "Frances the Mute." So it looks like Canada is getting the best deal in this case :D I'll listen to the album and post my thoughts in a few days.
