Holy ****.

That's how this thread will be started off.

I put a set of the acoustic coated strings on an Art & Lutherie dreadnaught cedar top acoustic a few weeks ago. I have been playing the living Christ out of it since then because I wanted to put these strings to the test. Now, in my heart of hearts I knew these strings would be great... but the question on my mind was... how great? Elixir great? Not quite? More? A waste of money?

It's now been a few weeks as I say, and here's what I've come up with: ... actually, a preface first. I am a sweaty player. I suppose it's because I am just so full of rock that it oozes from my every pore. That's what I tell myself anyways. I eat through the coating on a set of Elixirs within... twenty minutes? An hour tops. They look like an old set after one sit down with my playing is essentially what I'm getting at. I get rusted looks on my EB regular slinkys after one use as well. It's awful. Anyways, back to what I've come up with:

They look gold still. They sound brilliant. They play smooth and silky like the first time they came out of the package. They are bright, in-my-face and succinct. No messing around with these things.

I have impressed upon the boss that it may be time to look at giving those stupid Elixirs the heave-ho because these strings find Elixir in the back alley, corner them and beat the **** out of them. That's what the EB coated strings do.

My next goal is to get a set of Regular Slinky coated electrics and put them on my Silhouette Special. If I can get new string feel, look and sound out of them for a couple weeks I will be in a euphoric state not unlike swimming in a pool of cocaine or being granted endless amounts of grilled cheese sammiches.

Way to go, you guys. I mean it. I don't give out compliments often. Way to go.

I just picked up a package of the electric coated Slinkies at the Vegas GC. I am going to slap them on my Morse tonight. :)

Man! I just bought a set of the new 9-42's for my BFP JP6 and have been hesitating on putting them on because I also grabbed all 3 EBMM Wonder Wipes and wiped the strings down real good. I couldn't believe how well the wipes worked. It reminded me of being in High School Orchestra and using alcohol pads to clean my strings so I didn't have to constantly buy new ones all the time.

After reading this post I've got to go home and put on the coated strings now! Damn yous! Damn yous all to hellzz..
